About Tara

A woman with shoulder-length brown hair and a beige turtleneck sweater smiling outdoors in front of green leafy trees.

Hello! I am Tara (she/her), and I am grateful to be part of your journey.

I grew up in the summer camp world – attending as a camper for many years, and eventually working as a camp counselor for many more. Through experiences at camp and in the outdoors, I came to understand significant beliefs about life: learning often happens best through play and connection, positive change is most supported when you are an active participant in the process, and, although failure is inevitable, through failure can come resilience.

I believe we are all doing the best we can with what we have. I believe everyone needs to be nurtured, cared for, and believed in.

These fundamental beliefs guide my therapeutic approach with clients.

I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor in North Carolina with years of experience working with children, adults, and families in various environments, including private therapy practice, school-based therapy, community mental health, and outdoor recreational programming. I am LGBTQIA+ affirming and welcome individuals of all cultural backgrounds and identities.

My approach is warm, empathetic, and encouraging. I bring creativity, goofiness, and honesty to sessions.

In my free time, I can be found going on long runs, eating sushi, and adventuring in the forest with my partner and pup.

Motion is required to create change, to heal, and to grow. I am grateful to work alongside you, encourage you, and help inspire you as you create movement in your life.
